Keep your home or business warm when you install a ductless heating unit with Century Heating & A/C, Inc. We are proud to serve the greater Portland, OR, area. Read on to learn about how ductless heaters compare to central heating and radiators.
The most obvious comparison to make when discussing ductless heaters is with ducted heaters, or central heating. The most prominent difference is that the former system features no ducts, while the latter does. For this reason, you should consider whether your property already has ducts in place when you choose between these two options, as installing ducts is a big construction project.
The differences don’t end with the installation process, however. Central heating tends to be less efficient and less cost-effective because ducts can leak hot air or have air pressure issues that cause the system to work harder than it needs to. Without ducts, ductless heaters simply don’t have these problems.
Ductless heaters are also cheaper in the long run because they are installed in individual rooms, which means that their thermostat only controls the rooms they’re in. In other words, each room can be at the temperature that is most comfortable to its occupants, and unoccupied rooms don’t have to be heated.
Radiators share many of the same features that make ductless heaters better than central heating, so why choose ductless heaters? For one, ductless heaters take up less space in your room because they are placed close to the ceiling. With traditional radiators, you have to worry about what might lean against them and potentially catch fire. This is not a concern with ductless heaters.
Ductless heaters are also superior to both radiators and central heating because they have built-in air purification.
